A big portion of what was discussed in The Brief McGraw Handbook regarding plagiarism was the different methods of plagiarism and the ways to make sure credit is given where credit is due via the use of citations. I think a big problem often faced by students is confusion over what exactly constitutes plagiarizing material. Often in high school students are made to believe that in order to navigate around plagiarizing work one must simply paraphrase. This is not at all the case, though; one must properly give credit to their source.
To plagiarize is by no means a joke. It can easily follow you throughout your life, especially in your career as a student. So the simplest thing you can do is to just cite your sources. This will relieve you of the potential to be plagiarizing.
